I provide a fly fishing guide service on the rivers Wye, Usk and Monnow and the myriad of small streams and tributaries which feed these renowned rivers.
Please see The Wye and Usk Foundation website for a sample of available water.
Why a Fly Fishing Guide?
A fly fishing guide will help you make the most of your fishing experience, whether you are new to fly fishing in the area or feel that you are not best utilizing your time on the river. A fishing trip with a fly fishing instructor can offer amazing benefits, even to an experienced game angler.
The aim of guided fly fishing is to catch fish whereas the aim of fly fishing instruction is to teach specific skills and techniques.
Guided Fly Fishing
The focus of a day’s guided fly fishing is primarily on water craft and catching fish (although I make no promises) so, instead of me finding out if there are any particular skills you want to learn, I will choose the method I think most likely to catch on the day. That does not mean that no fly fishing instruction will be given. If I introduce a casting technique that is new to you, or a particular style of fly fishing that you are unaccustomed to, I will provide a structured coaching session to help you get the best out of the method.
If you’ve never tried river fishing before, a guided fly fishing trip is an excellent place to start. As a fly fishing instructor and game angling coach I am qualified to help you improve your casting and fishing techniques. Couple this with an in-depth knowledge of these rivers and you have a unique fishing opportunity during which I can help you achieve your fishing potential. All casting tuition and fly fishing instruction is included in the guided fishing days. I can also supply equipment by prior arrangement.
My own fly fishing knowledge comes from countless happy hours in pursuit of both trout and grayling so together we can enjoy a day’s guided fly fishing all year round.
