Fly fishing trip on the Monnow

February 10th, 2008

Finally had both the time on the weather to get out on the Monnow System. The first part of the morning was a casting lesson with DanC from the fly forum.

Here is what he thought of the day.

I can highly recommend Frank Williams as an instructor having spent most of the day with him on the Honddu and Monnow.

It didn’t take him long to correct a few misdemeanors and give me a few pointers on understanding the mechanics of the casting process. I found Frank to be very friendly, approachable and helpful.

A real nice guy who also brews a good cup of tea!!

Well worth a visit if you’re looking for an instructor in the Gloucestershire area.

The river was good and clear if carrying a little extra water. Other than the Grayling pictured above the fish I caught were all brown trout. All of which were returned quickly and with out removing from the water hence no pictures.
