A Beautiful Wild Brown Trout Feeding on nymphs in cristal clear water

Fly Fishing on the River Dore

Had a couple of hours spare yesterday afternoon and decided to give this short beat a try.

I was not disappointed at all.

A nice pool for upstream nymphing

This is one of the larger pool and held a good head of fish.
I did not catch any from here though because as I came up to the pool there was a 10-12 inch brown trout making a great commotion at the start of the pool.

I watched for a few seconds but then my curiosity got the better of me and I went to investigate.

This is what I found trying its hardest to get across the pool with out being eaten.

A Slow worm.

I buggered the pool right up to rescue it but at least it was kind enough to pose for the camera for me.
The fishing was good and there are plenty of decent Grayling. On the day they where mostly coming to a GB Caddis Emerger.

A winter Grayling. The lady of the stream

This beat is available through the Wye and Usk foundation roving voucher scheme.
